Farmbot is coming to the Northern Territory

I am really excited about a plan that has been in the works for almost a year is coming to fruition. On Tuesday we will be holding our #Skills2021 event in the Northern Territory’s Parliament House, the second time this event has been run. It has been one of the reasons I have had an extended stay up here in Darwin away from the family. As part of Skills2021 we endeavour to show our primary school students some of the technologies and skills they need to be aware of now before they consider high school subjects, possible careers or future study paths. I am really proud that this is a one of a kind event. It isn’t an expo, it is a hands on day of excited students engaging in coding, 3D design, drones, laser and 3D printing along with robotics and what I really want to talk about in this post, CNC farming with Farmbot.

What started out as a conversation with Geoff Cronin from Team Telstra in a Palmerston coffee shop has transformed into a fantastic innovation grant from Telstra and CISCO to purchase two of these amazing kits that have many people talking and understanding how they offer many practical learning opportunities and really embodies what Skills2021 is all about.

I really want to thank Team Telstra and CISCO for making this happen. When I get back to Melbourne I am planning to share our learning with the community garden movement in that great city and who knows we might even have one deployed in Melbourne. Be a great project for Melbourne High.
