I can name all the trees in my park
Actually only the park opposite our house in Melbourne… thanks to a very cool online application map that allows me to zoom in on our street then progressively click on the trees to find out what a peppercorn tree, pin oak or crepe myrtle looks like.

This tiny green square is Parson’s Reserve, the park across the road from our house.
You can zoom in and drag the map around and then click on each little tree icon to find out the name of the tree outside your door or in the park. Very cool.
Wouldn’t it be great as a classroom exercise to plan a walk where you select 5 trees from the map, research them and take photographs of the trees on a stroll around your suburb. I might just mention that to the local school.
