Happy Easter and Happy Birthday
My Brother Lance had a birthday yesterday which we celebrated on Southbank and in our house. It was definitely a boys night out and both Joe and Stefan who now live and study in Melbourne came along for some soft drinks and German food before heading back home. I am so proud of these boys, Stefan studying music at Melbourne University and Joe studying in year 9 at Melbourne High.
They are embarking upon a fresh chapter in their life with the support of their parents and friends and I am sure every day they learn something new. I learnt something new about the fact that much of today’s modern music can be constructed from elements of the classical masters. Which is why many of the famous groups have classical training. I took one look at Stefan’s music book and couldn’t imagine how anyone could read and play all those notes so quickly.
After a tragic navigation exercise for which I take the blame we managed to turn a one hour trip into an epic journey.
All of that was forgotten as we laughed and reminisced about work, sport, old friends and future plans. It was great to catch up with Dave as well who lives just around the corner from us in Kensington. We even got to try out the quite tasty Kensington Pizza although by the time we ate, boiled newspaper would have been appetising.
The area where the Munich Brauhouse is was a great choice by Dave. It even has a helipad for two helicopters so Joe and Stefan had no trouble getting home.
After the Munich we moved down to the Boathouse, thoughtfully tacked onto the enclosing wharf of Polly Woodside, a floating museum. Dave, who I am sure has a PhD in Beerology also extolled the virtues of the Matilda which has an extremely large range of craft beers.
So here are some photos of a wonderful Easter Saturday – Happy Birthday Lance and Happy Easter to all!
