The Stig of the Darwin Fishing Fraternity…
Fish tremble when his line hits the water. Some say he is the Peter Pan of fishing skill, playing a melodic tuna to lure fish to his vessel… Some say he hears the call of the sea when he cups an iPhone to his ear… Some say Barradiction is only part of the story… but for us mere mortals he is… The Tuna Man… also known as Mr Z (pronounced American style Zee)
We were honoured to receive a phone call after another epic battle with the dry season harbour winds and waves. A generous offering of a freshly captured Yellowfin Tuna was gratefully accepted and dropped off in style.
Helen, as the small readership of this blog knows owned a Japanese Restaurant in Melbourne and was able to convert the Tuna into three dishes… actually four.
The first was sashimi Tuna and the second was a Tuna salad which used the small pieces not used in other dishes to create a raw Tuna, avocado, cucumber soy sauce, wasabi and mayonnaise mixed salad combination which was so good I missed seeing or tasting it… Joe managed to eat it all!
The third dish, Sushi was prepared with special sushi flavoured rice and with avocado and small pieces of cucumber.

Finally, using the long shoulder portions, a Mexican salsa inspired Tuna steak, with avocado, fresh basil from the garden, cumin powder, garlic, lime juice and chilli prepared with stir fried red capsicum complementing the lightly cooked Tuna steaks.

A diverse and tasty range of dishes making full use of this offering from the sea! Yum.
Thank you Mr. Z!
