Restoring some of our history from Cyclone Tracy
My Father offered me a rusting frame of what was obviously a table, letting me know it was the table 6 of us sheltered under for most of Cyclone Tracy from about midnight until after the sun came up.
It was one of those Government issued tables with the green laminate top and gold banding around the edge. I intend to restore it as a new version with possible a decoupage of Cyclone Tracy photos on the table top. I only mention it because I am sure folks who went through the cyclone have their own bits and pieces that have significance… but like me might be showing their age.
It is a nice project because the old frame has significance to our family and if I can turn it into a useful object that is also a talking piece, then all the better. I have no craft or restoration skills which is what makes this even more fun for me.
